We’re getting excited about the fact that on 18 October it’s International Home Movie Day in Bristol and people are invited to share home movies and videos at Knowle West Media Centre and MShed. This ‘bring-your-own-film’ event includes a film preservation clinic, DiY digitisation training and film screenings. Members of the public are invited to bring in their home movies on any film format – 8mm, Super 8, 16mm – or video format – VHS, Digi8, miniDV – for inspection, discussion, and onsite projection. Depending on the condition of the films, attendees will have the chance to view their own films on the big screen.
Home Movie Day will involve the Know your Bristol lorry and marquee, which is a mobile digitisation unit, and there will be refreshments provided. University of Bristol, Bristol Records Office, Knowle West Media Centre and MShed are working together to put on this event. It is part of a project called Know your Bristol on the Move, which aims to enable people to explore, research and co-create Bristol history, heritage and culture using digital tools.
Great that this event is happening hot on the heels of the 11 October event at Trinity Centre: https://knowyourbristol.blogs.bristol.ac.uk/event/bristols-african-caribbean-music-heritage/
