2,000 postcards and counting: no end date for the project

The Vaughan Postcard project, where Roy Vaughan’s collection of Bristol postcards are researched and uploaded to the Know Your Place website, has now exceeded 2,000 entries. And although the University’s involvement in the project was originally set to end on 31 March 2015, we will be continuing the project until we run out of postcards. The University will maintain their input at the volunteer sessions at the Record Office on Tuesday mornings until the end of May, at which point the Bristol Record Office will take over any remaining administrative roles needed to continue the project.

But 2,000 entries means that many, many more postcards still need to be researched. Particularly, we are in need of volunteers with an interest in early aircraft and Bristol’s aircraft factories in the early years of the last century. Likewise, we have a batch of postcards of early motor vehicles – cars and lorrys – that are waiting to be researched; please get in touch if you would like to help.
